It’s rare that you get a group of women together to discuss Canadian foreign policy – so that’s what Canada’s World has decided to do. We’ve invited women thought leaders from many different arenas in Vancouver to a three-hour dialogue on our vision for the future of Canada’s role in the world. We’ll be asking them – what is Canada currently doing to lead by example in the world? What could it be doing? How do we bridge that gap?
We start by asking participants about their hopes and concerns for Canada’s role in the world.
Several participants say they’re concerned about the gap between the myth and reality of Canada’s role in the world, particularly when it comes to the environment.

One participant shares her concern that we focus too much on the negative – this is damaging. Another concern is that dialogues are very uplifting but lead to reports that sit on shelves.
Many hopes relate to civil society – that organizations like the Aga Khan development network are creating exemplary models.
