A first-year diploma student from U.A.E., Adil Safdar likes to be challenged and thrives on the rigorous IB programme of the Academy. “I had heard of the Aga Khan Academy and wanted to be in an IB programme,” says Adil. “That and the fact that the Mombasa Academy is the pioneer inspired me to choose this facility.”

Adil had chosen tough subjects this year but does not fear the demands of the programme. “I was inspired by the vision of the Academy and what a graduate is supposed to become. That is my motivation. The Academy has produced some very smart students.” Adil”s dream is to be one as well.

“I want to be successful, be a leader, give back to the community, and lead a balanced life.”

His Highness the Aga Khan is Adil’s role model since he assumed the position of Imamat in his 20s. Adil reads his speeches and says he learns much from it. “You can really improve your English skills by listening and reading those speeches. In one of his speeches, he said that Mombasa will be remembered as a place where it all started.”
