VANCOUVER – Thousands of Ismaili Muslims from across North America took to the streets of downtown Vancouver Monday evening to welcome their spiritual leader.
Shrieks from the crowd and the wails of the Vancouver police department bagpipe band accompanied the Aga Khan’s convoy as it rolled up in front of the Pan Pacific hotel.
“It’s very exciting,” said University of B.C. law student Aneez Devji. “It’s a very unique opportunity in the life of an Ismaili.”
