Chairman, Canadian Centre for Diversity, Charles Coffey, quoting His Highness the Aga Khan.
Ontario is already helping foreign students through substantial cash outlays for employment training and bridging programs which, combined with the new Canadian Experience Class announced last week by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, will help fast-track newcomers into the mainstream, Minister of Education Kathleen Wynn said this week.
“Ontario is stronger through diversity, which opens up our window to the entire world,” Wynn told SA Focus.
The minister however acknowledged such newcomer diversity, while a potential strength, did need initial boost as it sought to bridge its way to the mainstream when she said: “We are spending some $2 billion in various bridging programs for students, because we know our newcomers come from different backgrounds.”
