Aga Khan Talk a Prelude to Exhibit on Sustainable Development – at University of Victoria

Lecture/Seminar – Aga Khan Talk a Prelude to Exhibit on Sustainable Development

Description:

For 25 years, the Aga Khan Canada Foundation has assisted social development programs in Asia and Africa and the challenges it faces in its second quarter-century have never been more difficult. In an upcoming public presentation at UVic, Khalil Shariff, CEO of Aga Khan Development Canada, will urge Canadians to think differently about the nature of their partnership in the developing world. He’ll address issues raised when Western values confront different sensibilities.

Shariff’s presentation is a prelude to the coming “Bridges That Unite” exhibit at the Victoria Conference Centre, Feb. 1 to 13. Through the creative interplay of audio, video, text panels, and interactive components, the exhibition challenges visitors to confront typical assumptions about what international development is and what it can achieve. The exhibit is open from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Shariff’s presentation is supported by University of Victoria Faculty of Business. He will be introduced by UVic President Dr. David Turpin.
