The Honourable Jason Kenney meets with His Highness the Aga Khan

The Honourable Jason Kenney, Secretary of State (Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity), along with the Hon. Josee Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage, met with His Higness the Aga Khan to discuss issues relating to pluralism.

Last October, Prime Minister Harper announced that the Government of Canada would partner with His Highness, the Aga Khan, in creating a Global Centre for Pluralism. As the Prime Minister said, “Hosting the Global Centre for Pluralism can only complement our efforts to advance the values of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law, and make them the common destiny of all people everywhere.”

The meeting on Monday November 5 allowed His Highness the Aga Khan to discuss further how our government is supporting pluralism as an important component of Canadian identity, as well as issues related to international cooperation.
