Senate Chairman visits Hunza & Nagir – applauds AKDN

GILGIT, Aug 9 (APP): Chairman Senate, Muhammedmian Soomro has formally inaugurated Gems Stone Cutting and Polishing Centers in remote Hunza and Nagir valleys respectively during his three-day visit to Northern Areas.

Addressing the inaugural ceremonies he appreciated the vehemently efforts being made by the Aga Khan Development Networks engaged with development of Northern Areas. He also extolled organizer Karakuram Area Development Organization and donor, a US-based businessmen, Nasr-ud-Din whose efforts resulted in such a marvelous achievements.

Earlier, he visited ancient Baltit Fort [ArchNet Link] where General Manager briefed him about the historic background of the fort.

He was in Hunza to see himself the people, the rich culture and sent a message of peace, love and harmony to the people of Northern Areas.

Muhammedmian Soomro visited Girls Academy Karimabad [ArchNet Link] and termed it an asset for the whole country as the discipline and educational standard highly impressed him.

He was extremely glad after he came to know that literacy rate was 90 percent in these areas.

  1. It is good to see such an efffort to share about AKDN’s great works. I am from Hunza Pakistan based in Islamabad but did not know about visit of Senate Chairman to Hunza. But through this wesite I learned about the visit. I could imigine the Chairman Senate’s feeling and appriciation about AKDN’s work.

    Anybody visits the isolated mountains, realizes the challanges and positive outcomes from AKDN programs.
