Awori commended the Aga Khan Education Foundation for supplementing government’s efforts in providing quality education through establishments of model schools.

Vice President Moody Awori Saturday called on people from Western Province living in Mombasa to unite and pool their resources to enable them start income generating projects.

Awori said that with 60,000 residents living in the town, the community was capable of raising initial capital for investment thus becoming self-reliant.

The Vice President made the remarks at the Makupa Kenya Ports Authority Social Hall when he met members of the community.

Awori urged the residents to co-exist peacefully with other communities in the town so as to share experiences and benefit from their diversity.

Addressing members of the public when he stopped at Changamwe to acknowledge their greetings, Awori urged the youth and women to take advantage of the two development funds initiated by the government.

He also commended Mombasa residents for maintaining peace and security, which he said were necessary for national development.

Meanwhile Vice President Moody Awori has also said the government has set aside sufficient funds towards the establishment of a university at the Coast.

Awori says the money was factored in this year’s budget and that establishment of the university will help accommodate the many students who are locked out by entry requirements that are pegged on accommodation at the institutions of higher learning.

He was speaking at the Aga Khan High School in Mombasa, during the institution’s prize giving day, where he also presented certificates and awards to the best performers in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.

Awori commended the Aga Khan Education Foundation for supplementing government’s efforts in providing quality education through establishments of model schools.
