Aga Khan University (AKU) will host a two-day seminar on ‘English and Empowerment in the Developing World’ on June 9 and 10, 2007. Dr Atta-ur-Rahman, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Science and Technology and Chairman Higher Education Commission, will be the chief guest on the occasion.
AKU’s Centre for English Language has organised the seminar with the objective of addressing issues related to the critical role of English language and empowerment. Sub-themes of the seminar include English in the global perspective, links between English language and employment, economic factors in language planning, language and gender, politics in language teaching, language and culture, English for specific purposes, teacher education, Integrated Communication Technology (ICT) and language education, and cross cultural communication.
