TSX and World Partnership Walk
Partner to advance solutions to global poverty
TORONTO—The World Partnership Walk, Canada’s largest annual event to raise funds and awareness for international development, has joined with the TSX to encourage Canadian corporations and the general public to play an active role in the fight to end global poverty.
On Wednesday, May 23rd, the TSX will welcome members of the World Partnership Walk committee, as well as corporate and grassroots supporters, to open the market. This event will symbolize a powerful and growing partnership between the World Partnership Walk and leaders in the business community to promote Canadian action in the developing world.
The World Partnership Walk is an initiative of Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC), a private, non-denominational international development agency that provides hope and opportunity to millions of people in Africa and Asia. Since 1985, the Walk has engaged Canadians who want to make a difference in the world.
Noah Newton, Volunteer, World Partnership Walk (WPW), and Roshan Esmail, Volunteer Convenor, WPW, opened the market today. The Walk is one of Canada’s largest annual events dedicated to increasing awareness and raising funds to fight global poverty. All funds raised (100%) go directly to programs in health, education and rural development, as well as strengthening community-based organizations in Asia and Africa. Well done Roshi and Muneer, I recognise you in the picture.

^^ And, of course, Khalil Shariff, the AKFC CEO (‘polished’ fellow just right of centre).
This is quite something actually … it is wonderful to see the ever increasing profile of this initiative within the corporate / business world.
