CHITRAL, 25 Feb 07: Pakistan People’s Party Chitral formally extended its support to the professional development centre (PDC) being constructed by the Aga Khan University in Chitral.
Addressing a press conference here , PPP Gen Secy Mohammad Hakeem Khan advocate and Tehsil Nazim Chitral Sartaj Ahmed Khan said that the PDC was contributing to the promotion of quality education in Chitral for four years and opposition to it from some quarters was illogical.
They said that these NGOs had played a vital role in the development of Chitral, but some elements were creating hurdles and impeding execution of projects aimed at alleviating poverty.
They said that more than 70 per cent of the Chitralis were followers of the PPP and they wanted progress and prosperity in the area.
They criticised the provincial and central governments for their utter failure to protect the life and property of people and controlling the soaring prices of essential commodities.
They said the PPP is growing from strength to strength and in the present situation, only Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and the PPP could drive the nation out of difficulties.
