AKRSP conducts LSOs tour

CHITRAL, 01 Feb 07: The Aga Khan Rural Support Program Chitral arranged a study and experimental tour for representatives of  different local support organizations from Chitral. They met with heads of different organizations at Peshawar. They also visited several departments in Islamabad and were briefed by RSPO Islamabad.

The delegation visited Pakistan Television Centre and were briefed by Habibur Rehman Producer which was also attended by General Manager PTV current affair. They also requested the GM for Extension of Ptv transmission at Chitral and Booni and increasing the telecasting hours. The GM promised 24 hours PTV World transmissions at Chitral without any interruption. He also directed the concerned producer to visit Chitral each month and assure continuation of different programs from PTV at Chitral.

Talking to the delegation at a reception in Islamabad, the host, Wg Cmdr (r) Fardad Ali Shah said NGOs operating in Chitral must uphold the noble spirit of the original concept of an NGO, which is to help the ‘have nots’. He said it was poverty and deprivation prevalent in this part of the world, to which the NGOs owe their existence and they must  bear this in mind all the time. He said NGOs must deliver what is expected of them, continuously weighing their output against the overhead costs out of the money meant for the poor, being incurred on them.

The study tour team was lead by Hussain Ahmad IDO and Hussain Wali Khan IDO, attended by Irfanullah Jan Program Manager DADP and included prominent notables from local Support organizations. (GH Farooqi)
