More than 40 Canadian Ministers, Senators, and Members of Parliament attended a lunch reception hosted by Mawlana Hazar Imam on the afternoon of Thursday, 26 March at the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat in Ottawa.

A cross-section of Canada’s political parties were represented at the event, who have supported the work of the Ismaili Imamat, the AKDN, and the Ismaili Muslim community in areas including immigration, settlement, housing, and international development.

Addressing the delegates present, Hazar Imam spoke of the decades-long partnership between successive governments of Canada and the Ismaili Imamat, and thanked those in attendance for their support.
“Your presence here, and your commitment to the friendship between Canada and the Imamat is deeply felt and appreciated,” he said. “Thank you for all that you do, and for your service to Canada—and humanity.”
