In a historic move on 18 March 2025, the Ismaili Imamat and the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe (Central Africa) signed a Protocol of Cooperation in the capital city. Initiated by the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ilda Vaz, this agreement lays the groundwork for fostering mutual interests and advancing collaboration in diplomacy, social development, economic growth, and cultural exchange.
Nazim Ahmad, Diplomatic Representative of the Ismaili Imamat, reaffirmed the Imamat’s commitment to fostering solidarity, pluralism, and intercommunity dialogue while emphasizing the importance of supporting vulnerable communities. Dr. Vaz highlighted the Protocol as a critical step toward enhancing dialogue and creating initiatives to improve the quality of life for citizens of São Tomé, both locally and abroad.
The visit also included courtesy meetings between the Ismaili Imamat delegation and key government leaders, including Prime Minister Américo Ramos, further strengthening the foundation for future cooperation.
