We congratulate Dr. Shahin Kassam, post-doctoral fellow, on her appointment to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Technical Advisory Group for the consultation process of the WHO training course on building the capacity of health care workers providing care to refugees and migrants.

Shahin will be joining the WHO technical advisory group to provide consultation on a global healthcare provider curriculum focused on refugee and migrant care. Following a rigorous and competitive process, the WHO’s Department of Health and Migration selected Shahin for her expertise and background that will make her a valuable contributor to the process.
Biography:
Dr. Shahin Kassam is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia, School of Nursing, Capacity Research Unit under the mentorship of Dr. Vicky Bungay. Shahin’s emerging program of research centres on women living with the impacts and health sequelae of forced migration including gender-based violence, racial discrimination, and chronic health disease.
