The PCSFN is a federal advisory committee that aims to promote healthy eating and physical activity for all people, regardless of background or ability. The mission of the Council is to engage, educate, and empower all Americans to adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity and good nutrition.

“This Council has played a critical role since its inception to raise public awareness and establish programs that promote nutrition, physical activity, and fitness for Americans of all ages and backgrounds,” said Merani. “I am excited to continue that tradition and join this distinguished group of individuals in service to make a healthier America.”

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Merani served as Associate Director of Presidential Scheduling at the White House, where he coordinated President Biden’s daily engagements, events, and meetings and led planning efforts across domestic and international teams to build the President’s trips — including to global summits such as the G7, G20, NATO, and ASEAN, as well as the U.N. General Assembly. Previously, Mr. Merani worked on Capitol Hill as Director of Scheduling for Senator John Hickenlooper (D-CO), and before that he served as Director of Scheduling & Advance for Senator Hickenlooper’s campaign.

Mr. Merani is an Ismaili Muslim and credits his community for fostering his interest in sports, youth development, and service. He is still actively engaged within the community, currently serving as a board member for college engagement for the Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board for the United States, which manages social governance of the Ismaili community.

Originally from India, Mr. Merani grew up in Lawrenceville, GA, and now lives in Washington, DC.
