JollyGul.com presents Amin Mawani’s heartwarming and skillful rendition of “Navroz Na Din Sohamna” (Beautiful Day of Navroz) in a video format with running lyrics and translations. Just in time for Navroz!
The ginan has a beautiful story. The composer of the ginan Sayyid Fateh Ali Shah travelled from Sindh to Persia to meet Hazrat Imam Shah Khalilullah our 45th Imam.
On arriving at the destination on the day of Navroz, he learnt that the Imam had gone to the woods on a hunting expedition. Sayyid was disappointed but not in a mood to give up. He went into the woods in search of his Imam, was able to connect and was rewarded with a meeting – deedar – in the woods at the Fort.
In this ginan, Sayyid Fateh Ali Shah relates the combined experience of the zaheri deedar – the exoteric or physical glimpse or meeting, granted by the 45th Imam, Shah Khalilullah, and the inner joy of contentment and ecstasy that he experienced with the bestowal of Noorani – the spiritual or esoteric grace.
