Education week in Peel region is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful accomplishments of Students, staff and school communities. The Peel District School Board is a school district in the Region of Peel servicing the municipalities of Caledon, Brampton and Mississauga in Ontario.
Aleeza Khamisa is a French Immersion teacher with the Peel Board of Education for 5 years and is currently teaching at Ridgewood Public School in Mississauga where students achieve a high level of proficiency in French while they continue to develop English language skills.
The Award of Distinction is provided to recipients for their above-and-beyond contributions to student success at their school.
The best teachers teach from the heart and not from the book. The teacher who is receiving this award is one who definitely puts her heart and soul into everything she does. She is involved in everyday student life, from teaching her classes, supporting others, coaching sports, mentoring students, to making sure they are safely on the bus at the end of the day.
To be a great teacher you have to love learning. Aleeza is committed to lifelong learning, as she continues to take courses to better herself as an educator. Her love of learning includes travel and the world around us, and her many adventures are an inspiration for all of us. She has tutored children after school, working tirelessly to make sure that she can reach as many kids as she can.
They say it is better to give than to receive. Aleeza gives her whole self to the act of teaching. She has made sacrifices and sometimes given too much for her own good. But it did not go unnoticed. Aleeza Khamisa is presented with the Award of Distinction for all her efforts in helping to make Ridgewood a place where all students feel safe, happy, and truly cared for.
