Ibrahim Ladha came to Zanzibar from Kutch Bhadreshwar, India, at a comparatively young age and started life as a petty clerk and later had a retail shop at shamba Kisauni, in Zanzibar. Working up his own way, he started the business of buying and selling coconuts and turning them into copra and later had his own shambas. He became well-known among Arab and African shamba owners. With his economical and straight method of dealings, he became popular among members of all communities.
His business exported cloves and coconut products to Europe and Asia.
