This week’s move is all about high drama. Inspired by the twirling hexagonal staircase at the Aga Khan Museum, the Upward Spiral is an aspirational take on Three Legged Downward Facing Dog Pose. This one is wild and wobbly so be sure to practice with great care, away from any potential obstacles.

Balance Training

This week’s pose challenges your sense of balance by placing you on a narrow, one-sided base of support with much of your body mass cantilevered over your mat like a table that’s lost two of its legs. Add to that the upper-body inversion and disorienting turn of the head and you have a recipe for a downright difficult balancing pose. The good news is that balance does improve with practice.
