Fewer number of early pregnancies registered in Kwale, Kenya – Aga Khan Foundation has played a vital role

Fewer number of early pregnancies registered in Kwale, Kenya - Aga Khan Foundation has played a vital roleCases of early pregnancy in Kwale county have decreased significantly this year, Matuga education officer Daniel Mwanza has said.

Some schools, which previously registered more than 10 cases, now have none, he said.

Mwanza said education programmes on early pregnancy have borne fruit. He spoke on Tuesday during celebrations to mark the International Day of the Girl Child at Kwale School for the Deaf.

Mwanza said the Education ministry and the Aga Khan Foundation have played a vital role in curbing the problem. “A school like Bilashaka Primary, which had 13 cases last year recorded none. This is what we want,” he said.
