Zulfikar Hirji is Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Anthropology at York University, researching the social and cultural expressions of Muslims in historical and contemporary contexts. He holds a BA from McGill University, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and a DPhil from the University of Oxford. Prior to a career in academia, he worked for various organizations including OXFAM Canada, the Government of Ontario, and the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto.
