Adapting the World Economic Forum’s formula for improving the state of the world, Ottawa Global Shapers aim to improve the state of their city. They do so by working with key stakeholders across industries and sectors to build focused projects around issues that impact everyday people.
Ali Tejpar
Ali is currently a Juris Doctor/Master of Arts dual-degree candidate with the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa and the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) at Carleton University. He received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with Distinction in Global Development Studies and Politics from Queen’s University with a first-place academic ranking, earning the Queen’s University Academic Medal.
He is a published author in several academic journals and a textbook on topics that include private international aid regimes, empowerment-based HIV prevention strategies, and international mental health law.
He has been recognized for his leadership, community service, and academic achievements as a Gen Y Inc. Top 50 Emerging Canadian Leader, a Joubin-Selig Scholar in International Affairs, a recipient of the Common Law Dean’s Honours List, Ontario Graduate Scholarship, Dentons Prize in Property Law, Newton Rowell Scholarship, Queen’s University Chancellor’s Scholarship, University of Toronto National Book Award, and Governor General’s Academic Medal. Ali has also been invited to speak at several international conferences on global health, international security, and peacebuilding.
