A decade ago, speed enthusiast Azim Somji was inspired by the thrill of motorsports in Tanzania when he decided it was time to put on his racing suit and hit the road.
After sponsoring current champion Dharam Pandya during the early years of the youngster’s career, Azim’s insight and understanding of the sport grew immensely over time.
At the age of 27, the adrenaline gush was too hard to resist when he made his career debut in the DMSC rally which flagged off from Sea Cliff Village and headed to Mji Mwema.
Dar es Salaam driver Azim Somji has been elevated to the Tanzanian round of African Rally Championship (ARC) after striking a lucrative sponsorship deal with Victoria Petrol Station.
Somji who will compete in Mitsubishi Evo 9, said the timely sponsorship will boost his performance in the Tanzania’s only continental level event scheduled to cover areas of Dar es Salaam and Coast regions.
