I figure there is no better time to start a blog than when starting a new adventure, which I’m calling Tour de Faisal (TdF).
About 5 years ago, I drove from Seattle to Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast. The coastal scenery and the town was spectacular, as expected, but the thing that really stuck with me was seeing all the cyclists touring southbound down the coast. There were wide shoulders, great campgrounds close to the beach, quaint small towns, and of course amazing views for miles.
The seed was planted then that one day I would cycle down the Pacific Coast, specifically the Oregon section. I have been an avid mountain biker in the past and an active road cyclist recently. However, bike touring is entirely new to me.
After 5 years of dreaming about this bike tour, one year of reading cyclist journals, and 2-3 months of planning, acquiring the gear, and getting my fitness to the minimum level necessary, I am finally embarking on my first bike tour!
