Nizar Jaffer Somji to lead Aga Khan University's key projects in Tanzania starting 2016Jaffer Inc announces CEO Nizar Jaffer Somji’s appointment as Director, Aga Khan University Campus Development, Tanzania.

With the acceptance of this role, Nizar continues to be a major contributor in the community, having served on a number of public and private boards. In this spirit, in Fall 2016, the Jaffer Group of Companies will introduce programs in both its Canadian and American offices to encourage employees to also become champions of their own interests and communities.

Later this January, Nizar will take over several key projects for the Aga Khan University including the development of the purpose-built IED (Institute for Educational Development) and Academy campus in Tanzania’s largest city Dar es Salaam, as well as the principal East African campus in Arusha.

Nizar succeeds fellow Edmontonian, Nasir Peerani, who has helped envision and plan these projects over the last nine years. After two initial ground-setting trips in late January to February and late March to April, Nizar will likely spend 4 to 6 weeks per quarter leading these projects in Tanzania. Despite this new appointment, Nizar will continue to be actively involved in the Jaffer Group of Companies.
