Even though Nadeem Meghji’s home is in New York City, he claims the Canucks are still his team. Vancouver, where he was born, is also where his heart is, but when it comes to pouncing on commercial real estate deals of massive proportions, New York is where he needs to be.
Meghji, 35, recently became the co-head of U.S. property acquisitions for Blackstone.
Founded in 1991, Blackstone is a global real estate investment firm, handling about US$81 billion in investor capital. The New York-based firm has 16 offices around the world and a portfolio that includes hotel, office, retail, industrial and residential assets on four continents.
So far this year, Meghji has helped to find and acquire properties around the U.S. worth $35 billion. He’s earning recognition from his peers, as well coverage in Bloomberg.
