An inspiring woman with Crohn’s Disease took to the catwalk with her ileostomy bag on show to prove “our bodies aren’t supposed to be perfect.”
Azmina Verjee, 40, is happy to display the pouch as it has given her a new lease of life. Ms Verjee, of Friern Barnet, north London, said: “We are so bombarded with the image of the perfect body, but bodies aren’t supposed to be perfect.

“About one per cent of us look like people on magazine covers.” The NHS cancer research specialist was diagnosed with Crohn’s, a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines, aged 14.
Her symptoms, which included crippling stomach pains, diarrhoea with blood in it, mouth ulcers, cracked swollen lips and frequent toilet trips, began when she was just 10 years old.
