Citizenship, the Self and the Other: Critical Discussions on Citizenship and How to Approach Religious and Cultural DifferenceAfter completing a PhD at Royal Holloway in 2014, ISMC graduate Malik Ajani (Class of 2006) published his first book: “Citizenship, the Self and the Other – Critical Discussions on Citizenship and How to Approach Religious and Cultural Difference”.

In his book, Malik uses discussions with citizenship educators in England to share insights regarding the challenges and opportunities of creating a pluralistic society in today’s globalised world and to develop an understanding of how religious and cultural difference can be approached.

The book focuses on multi-faith and multi-ethnic societies, gathering ideas and research from a wide field of international scholarship, such as political science, philosophy, education, and cultural studies.
