LAHORE: A large number of people, civil society organizations and human rights activists hold protest demonstration and candle light vigil against the brutal terrorist attack on the Ismaili community in Karachi, on Monday at Liberty Roundabout.
The protestors holding placards and banners strongly condemned religiously motivated terrorist attacks on a particular community and perceive as is on state. President Civil Society Network Pakistan Abdullah Malik said that the civil society condemn the act of terrorism in Karachi in which innocent citizens of Karachi lost their precious lives, it is a brutal act, and the killers are butcher and they have no concern with humanity. He demanded government take strict action against such enemies of humanity. He added, “We are here to express solidarity with the Ismaili community as we believe it’s a failure of the government which could not protect its citizens”.
Shazia Shaheen, General Secretary of Umeed Jawan Peace Network (UJPN) while expressing solidarity with Ismaili Community, condemned the incident and said it was a great loss for the country. She said our enemies were incapable of fighting us and will never be able to defeat us because, she said, “every single Pakistani is ready to fight against terrorism and our will is unconquerable”. She has also reiterated the demand for the sever actions against responsible terrorist and militant groups. She demanded that those who attacked the Ismaili Community in Karachi should be exposed and brought to justice without any delay and there should be strict action against the terrorists.
Samson Salamat, Director of the Centre for Human Rights Education-Pakistan expressed that people of Pakistan show solidarity with the Ismaili community and has reiterated the demand for the appropriate measures for the protection of the religious minorities in Pakistan who are constantly under attack. He added, “We have continuously been demanding concrete policy to counter religious extremism and terrorism which is not possible without taking stern action against militant groups and all those individuals and groups who are spreading hatred and biases on the basis of religion and sect which is leading to the bloodshed”.
