The Mazalla Association for Social Development, one of the Aga Khan Foundation projects in Egypt, invited Sawiris Foundation for Social Development (SFSD) to attend the opening ceremony of
the Blue Mosque “Aq Sunqur” at the Darb Al-Ahmar district. The ceremony took place on Saturday, May 2, 2015, in the presence of Prince Karim Aga Khan, Governor of Cairo, a number of ministers and senior public figures.
It is worth mentioning that Mzalla Association is the implementing NGO of the “Vocational Productivity in Historic Cairo” project, that SFSD funds with the aim of improving living conditions and vocational skills of 276 young people of Greater Cairo. The project provides vocational training programs in different fields including carpentry, painting, upholstery, leather and khayameya. The project provides the trainees with proper job opportunities in furniture factories and carpentry workshops. In order to empower women to balance life on their own terms, the project also aims to train a group of women to start their home-based businesses, and help them marketing their products in Al-Azhar Park permanent exhibition.
