Jane Devji, CEO, Delta View Campus of CareCare To Chat – April 27th, 2015 – Terminal City Club
Debunking the Myths and Misconceptions of BC’s Continuing Care Sector
Jane Devji, RN immigrated to Canada in 1975 and, since 1976, has owned and operated several residential care facilities across British Columbia. She served for many years on the board of BC PRICARE, and has always tried to be both an advocate for seniors as well as an inspiration to other operators and front line care providers in hopes of improving the level of the quality of care offered by our entire industry. She is the CEO of the 292-bed Delta View Campus of Care.
A pioneer of the Gentle Care philosophy, Jane has been successful with her least restraint “hugs not drugs” person centred approach to dementia and residential care. Under Jane’s guidance, her facilities were among the first in Canada to ban the use of physical restraints.
She has long been a supporter of the Alzheimer’s Society of BC, and has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro three times, twice as part of the Ascent for Alzheimers to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. She has received many accolades over the years for her organization’s efforts, including awards from HEABC and Alzheimer’s Society of Canada recognizing Delta View as being a national leader in person centred care.
In 2014, she was the recipient of the BC Care Providers Ed Helfrich long service award. Most recently, Jane participated in the BC Patient Safety Quality Council Quality Academy.
