SCOUTS: Creating a better world
By Ali Zain Salim, Member of Amynabad Scouts Group

Scouting is an activity which builds confidence, brotherhood and teamwork among the youth. To escape the pressures of school, Scouting enables the youth to spend time with their friends and participate in extracurricular activities. Through activities such as camps, hikes, cooking sessions, and others, Scouts can enjoy their young ages and make more friends. Every Sunday, rallies are arranged and training sessions are conducted followed by sports and refreshments.

The curriculum of the Scouts’ program includes learning about religion, tying knots, first aid, and other topics so that these scouts can help people around them. Scouts come up with innovative ideas, participate in and fight to win competitions, and learn life saving skills. Scouts earn their badges by completing the many required tests.

Every year, scouts participate in Camporees, which are local or regional gatherings of Scouting units for camping and common activities. Every four years, Scouts gather for Jamborees, a larger gathering of Scouts at a national or international rally, where they share their ideas from other Scouts.

The Amynabad Scouts group in Pakistan has about 250 Scouts and Guides, who help the Jamat in various ways such as the wheelchair committee that helps seniors in wheelchairs reach Jamatkhana. The Scouts Group provides security to the Jamat and also plans activities and awareness sessions for the Jamat.

Every year, more and more youth are joining the Scouts group. Scouting gives the youth a chance to show their qualities and to create a better world!

  1. I have a special connection with this group. Initially, the first and founder GSM, Mr. Nazim Hirani, took my assistance in setting up and then seeking help off/on whenever he required me. I was at that time GSM of Prince Aly Khan (Masala Society) GSM. I am happy to see that this group has really acheived heights.

  2. Scouting and Guiding are the perfect platforms for the youth to make themselves aware and prepared for the world in the years ahead of them.
