The Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta isn’t a traditional institute. There’s no central office building with a sign out front.
In just 10 years since its inception, the institute has quietly but steadily made an impressive contribution to cardiovascular patient care, research, and education. Its purpose is to co-ordinate and integrate cardiovascular services aqcoss southern Alberta.
Formed on January 27, 2004, the Libin Institute is the only University of Calgary health-related institute that delivers health care throughout Alberta Health Services centres in Calgary, in addition to research and education.
“The biggest strength the Libin has had throughout the last decade is its ability to translate its research and education to actual medical practice. We remain the only institute to have this attribute and by doing so, Calgarians are able to achieve the top care,” says, Libin Institute associate director.
