Dar es Salaam. As part of events to commemorate the World’s Breast Cancer Awareness Week, The Aga Khan Hospital yesterday organised a free breast cancer screening and checkup for city residents.
The camp saw more than 200 individuals get screened for breast cancer as well as receive counseling and it is part of the of the hospital’s ‘don’t wait for October’ campaign aimed at encouraging the public to act on their health now rather wait for a specific time of the year.
Dr Amyn Alidina a breast cancer specialist at the hospital reiterated the importance of regular health checkups for good health.
“Most Tanzanians wait too long to care for their health when it is either too late or when to regain functionality costly treatment are needed” he said.
