Safiya was a very loving, innocent and often naïve ten and a half year old. She was always very helpful, kind and generous. Safiya wanted to please everyone and made sure no one else was inconvenienced. She presented as quiet and reserved, thoughtful and considerate.

During the 2013 Evergreen Junior Squash Championships, the 2nd Annual Safiya Mawani Memorial Award was presented to Michèle Garceau for her outstanding determination, sportsmanship and dedication to squash. She has trained very hard to achieve major results for our Club, Province and at a National level. Her attitude, focus and commitment to the sport are already proven and continue to give great results.
