ORLANDO — More than a thousand people took a walk Sunday to try and end global poverty in downtown Orlando.
It was all to benefit Aga Khan Foundation which raises awareness and funds to reduce poverty and hunger in Africa and Asia.
This year marks the 20th anniversary for Partnership Walk events, which will be held in nine major U.S. cities.
There was entertainment and music representing a variety of cultures.
Organizers say it’s an event where people can make a tremendous contribution but simply lacing up their shoes and getting the word out.
“The idea here is to find innovative and clever solutions to end world poverty, most of the work is done in Asia and Africa, we focus on health, education and civil society. The idea here is to give them some support, a spark so that they can launch on their own for long term and sustainable solutions,” said Shaun Ajani, a volunteer.
