Zaineb Marediya is ready to embrace her future.
The Nederland High School valedictorian, 18, earned a 4.0 grade point average and plans to head to the University of Texas at Austin to major in biology and began a career as a pathologist.
She remembers a day, in 10th grade while participating in the Nightingale Experience at Christus Hospital-St. Mary, that she knew what her career path would be.
“It was the last day and at the end we went through the pathology lab. There were some tri-fold display boards — I saw those and knew this was it,” Marediya said.
Marediya draws her inspiration from her parents.
