Second phase of the Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam expansionMORE than 135bn/- is expected to be used by the Aga Khan hospital on its second phase of the hospital’s expansion which will enable them to provide technical training as well as medical services that are not available in the country.

That was revealed by the hospital’s Development Network Representative, Mr Amin Kurji, during celebrations to mark French Cooperation Day.

The occasion was graced by the Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Seif Rashid, French Ambassador to Tanzania, Mr Marcel Escure and visiting dignitaries from the French Agency for Development (AFD).

He said the expansion encompasses the establishment of tertiary level programmes at the hospital, the creation of 30 outreach health facilities across Tanzania and the means to start much-needed post-graduate residency programmes in surgery and medicine.

“AFD is providing a concessional loan of 90bn/- for the expansion while the Aga Khan Development Network (AKND) is contributing an additional 45bn/-,” he said adding that, they are working tirelessly to make sure they expand their services by increasing more buildings and improve health services so as to serve more patients.
