  1. The meeting between His Highness the Aga Khan and DR. Jim Yong Kim May 08, 2014 to alleviate the global poverty does indicate that the World Bank Group is concerned about the dissimilarity between the rich and the poor. This distinction or the difference can only be removed, foremost by bettering the lives of people who are staying in these marginalized countries which despite its human and material resources are not able to better the lives of their citizen. Why is that happening?

Since 1944, the countries which were not self-governing were regulated by the colonizer which faced all the challenges to look after the welfare of all these colonies, thus making it easier for its citizens to improve their lives by lessening the poverty. But when these countries became autonomous it did not realize the enormous burden of managing the economy and to retain the well-being of their citizen.

As a consequence the World Bank group and the AKDN agencies have brought in the innovative and ground-breaking projects like micro finances, promotion of industries, and development of better infrastructures. These pioneering efforts have also made many citizens of these countries self-sufficient with embarkation into small cottage-industries and improving their farming techniques.

These autonomous countries have not yet become self-sufficient but it is a step forward to advancement of their citizens. This co-operation with the World Bank group and the AKDN is surely a healthier and improved way to reduce this poverty!

Of course, there is no parity between the well-to-do and the underprivileged but there is hope and the despair is replaced with inspiration and stimulus! Sincerely, Nizarali Shivji!
