Street children win global title
After narrowly losing the title during the 2010 event staged in South Africa, the Mwanza-based Tanzania street children this time made no mistake to cruise into the podium, winning the 2014 World Cup edition with scintillating 3-1 comprehensive rout over neighbours Burundi in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.
The team’s football academy president, Altaf Hirani, said after the match both teams joined together to stress that the Street Children World Cup was more than just a game, and to congratulate the players from all teams at the tournament.
