The Mulgrave community is mourning the tragic passing of Roshan Thomas, killed in Afghanistan last week. Vancouver educator Roshan Thomas spent over a decade working tirelessly to ensure that Afghan children, particularly girls, got the best possible chance at an education.
The Faculty of Education extends condolences to the family of Roshan Thomas, one of two Canadians killed by Taliban extremists on March 21, 2014 in the Serena hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Roshan was the mother of Samira Thomas, a PhD student in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy (EDCP), and was nearing completion of her own PhD in curriculum studies at UBC Okanagan.
