The last time Akbar Jassani saw his good friend Equbal Karimyar, he told him he loved him and gave him a huge hug.
It’s a memory he is holding onto now after Karimyar, who he said also went by the name Romie Sultani, was killed in a crash Saturday night on Blackfoot Tr.
Karimyar’s family moved to Canada from Afghanistan, living in Toronto and Montreal before coming to Calgary.
The 19-year-old Shia Imami Ismaili Muslim was driving, with his brother also in the car, and were on the way home from attending an event at a mosque, said Jassani.
