via Institute of Ismaili Studies: Bab was a high rank in the da‘wa organisation and religious hierarchy (hudud al-din) of the Ismailis. The hierarchical organisation of the Ismaili da‘wa and the functions of its different ranks were important but secret and obscure aspects of the Ismaili movement. Ismaili works generally maintain silence on the subject because of the esoteric and often secretive nature of the Ismaili da‘wa. The enmity of many Sunni amirs, rulers and religious scholars generally obliged the Ismailis to conduct their da‘wa activities in utmost secrecy (except within the dominions of the Fatimid state). Modern scholarship based on the recovery of numerous Ismaili texts has now shed much light on the organisation of the Ismaili da‘wa and its functioning, especially during the Fatimid period
we need to dig out the great and risky works that our pirs did during the da’wa that they carried out in india i suppose iis can be very usefully involved in this great unearthing of the treasures that we still cherish and care for both morning and evening
