The building of nations demands that the spirit of adventure be fostered and developed.

Excerpts:
My name is Salim. I was born in the town of Iringa, Tanzania on the 3rd of November, 1952. It was there that I finished my primary school education at H.H. the Aga Khan primary school. I continued my secondary education in Mbeya in the southern highlands of Tanzania, at an institution called Iyunga Secondary School (Boarding). At Iyunga, I was offered the chance to go to the Outward Bound School, a physically challenging program teaching tenacity, confidence, and perseverance in harsh conditions.

Chapter 3 Iringa
My great grandfather settled in Hehe country and learned their language. Within forty years he had built a mega empire with over five hundred people on his payroll. He controlled the BP Petrol stations in Iringa and Mbeya, supplying tender contracts to schools, hospitals, prisons and he transported goods. He had acquired properties in Iringa, Mbeya and Dar es Salaam. Huge farms produced paddy (rice), maize, onions, and tropical fruits. He established Saleh Haji and Sons (he had 4 sons) from scratch.
