In carrying out the three main initiatives under the George Town Grants Programme (GTGP) – cultural mapping, the shared spaces programme and physical conservation – Think City collaborated with international partners to promote best practices in conservation and best ideas regarding urban regeneration work.
Think City is a special project established by the investment holding arm of the Government of Malaysia. They are tasked with implementing and managing the George Town Grants Programme (GTGP).
Through the GTGP, the project hopes to transform George Town into a culturally vibrant and sustainable city through projects that are creative, encourage partnership, be developmental, inclusive and sustainable, particularly with regards to solving urban problems.
Ultimately, the GTGP will rejuvenate the George Town World Heritage Site (WHS) through conservation, restoration and revitalisation works.
