Khorog – The Adventures of Quebecer AKFC Fellow Laurence Couture Gagnon in Tajikistan

Khorog - The Adventures of Quebecer AKFC Fellow Laurence Couture Gagnon in TajikistanOriginally from the Bas-St-Laurent, in Québec, I grew up in Rimouski. Since my early age I am fascinated by Eastern Europe and the Post Soviet Area populations. After my Bachelor Degree in Political Science completed in Quebec and in France, I decided to head to Moscow (Russia) to study Russian and to acquire knowledge on my new sub-culture, in 2007. After a Certificate in Russian Studies from the University for the Humanities of Russia (RGGU) and a contract at the Canadian Embassy in Moscow, I came back to study what I like, the socio-political context in the Post Soviet Area, and I completed a Master’s in Political Science at the University of Ottawa. I also worked as the Coordinator for the Chair of Ukrainian Studies in Ottawa during this period (2009-2011), so I was able to sustain my Russian way of life in Canada.
