Alnoor – Forever a Place in Our Hearts
Such a great loss for all of us. So many things I want to know but his sudden loss has made it hard. His service to the community was so overwhelming. He was truly a silent angel, inspired by Hazar Imam’s vision of pluralism and societal development. A great loss to his family but also to all those people, who loved him so much.
The thing that struck me most, was the number of people from diverse communities that attended his funeral. The emotional outpour was astounding. Some fasted; others had done Khatam in Canada, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Denmark and England, Prayers in a Catholic Chapel, Gurdwara and many other communities. All his staff, their families, customers, their families, the Gerard street community, everyone he met, so many many many, prayers, all over the world. The city of Toronto paid a silent tribute to his life’s work, at the City Hall.
He touched all of our hearts. Alnoor’s extraordinary business acumen, charismatic and creative nature, his immense generosity, warmth and colourful humour, that lifted people’s spirits, wherever he went. Truly a ‘man of the people’ as I heard many say. I’m sure everyone who knew him, will hold fond memories but most of all, each one of them inspired by his approach to life and his work for the City of Toronto.
