Ismaili Walk in Canada hopes to raise over $250K to build housing for low-income single mothers

Ismaili Walk in Canada hopes to raise over $250K to build housing for low-income single mothersMore than 2,000 people braved the rain on Sunday and hiked around the seawall in Vancouver’s Stanley Park for the annual Ismaili Walk.

This year’s fundraiser will go toward the future YWCA Metro Vancouver’s Cause We Care House. The home, which will be on Hastings Street East, is being built to provide safe, affordable accommodation for low-income single mothers.

Last year’s walk raised $250,000 and event volunteer Ali Solehdin said they are hoping to top that figure this time around.

The walk began at the Lumberman’s Arch in Stanley Park and then went down to the seawall and then back, where there was music and food for the participants.

The five-kilometre event is in its 22nd year.
