Kum Canal: Kyrgyzstan Mountain Societies Development Support Programme, an initiative of Aga Khan Foundation

Lack of irrigation water due to bad condition of “Kum” canal, which only performed 70% of its capacity, caused tensions between residents of Kara-Kulja and Uzgen districts for many years. USAID/OTI supported rehabilitation of “Kum” irrigation canal and trainings of members of two Water User Associations to improve efficient and transparent management of the Kum canal for agricultural communities that share irrigation water. The rehabilitation was initiated by the Kyrgyzstan Mountain Societies Development Support Programme (MSDSP KG), an initiative of Aga Khan Foundation.
